As someone who's focused on website usability (functionality over design), I concur. They took something so simple and clean and turned it into a an ugly blog archive. How does showing but one or two stories above the fold help keep readers engaged? I suspect most writers' stats will drop as a result. If this is the way Medium looked when I first started writing here - STRIKE THAT - because I wouldn't have started writing here...

And, yeah, you might not care about your follower count, but some readers do - follower counts *do* play a role in establishing authority.
