I'm disappointed that any of this unfolded the way it did, right back to the beginning. Sorry, but I'm not keen on making assumptions about anyone - I like cold, hard facts. And the fact is, we don't know what anyone is really going through in their private life. We don't know what some people might have been planning to do, or might have already done. Knee-jerk reactions are just that. I 100% support Shannon's cause and wish her the best outcome from the surgeries. I appreciate her braveness and honesty about her condition. But in the current climate, we all know that getting frustrated and calling people out causes a slew of damage. As a result, many posts have now painted the "offending" writers into a nice little box - a box quite similar to the one so many of us have been trying to crawl out of for years. I, for example am a white, priveleged woman. That's never going to change. But you know what can? How people put me in a nice little box by not making assumptions - like the one that I'm automatically "entitled" since I'm a white, priveleged woman. I know none of these people personally, so I won't even begin to take sides. As I commented on Shannon's original story, both sides can chalk a loss on this, because all of this could have been handled in a much better way. Unless anyone specifically came out and said, "Nope, not helping," we have no idea what they might have done or plan to do.
