Kind of. Publish stories riddled with misuse of grammar and it's difficult to get anywhere. And without legit feedback, you won't know precisely why. In all seriousness, no writer should be editing themselves. Pre-editing? Sure. But I don't know a single writer who isn't - at least on some level - married to their work.
