Only because you initially said that your message was to how to properly communicate in crisis mode. Unfortunately, when we bring up someone’s race in this fashion, it’s an indicator that the lack of empathy and defensiveness is due to racism. And that just doesn’t seem to apply in this particular case. Please, let’s not compare Tom‘s actions to Derek Chauvin’s. Saying he’s entitled is one thing, giving the perception he’s racist because he didn’t support a fellow writer is quite another.

Just as it is important that we address racial issues that plague society, we need to be careful about using certain words in generic fashion. It’s no different than someone saying George Floyd deserved what he got because he was on drugs. Not to mention, as I said before, we have no idea what any of these writers might have planned to do.

Let’s not forget the fact that the whole reason this all started was because Tom didn’t share a link within a certain timeframe. This would be a good reason for people not to join writing communities. And that’s the saddest part of all.
