This is more an issue of guiding readers on how to tailor what they want to see. A guided method would help readers properly select topics to follow. From there, following publications and writers. This isn't so much an issue of Medium not feeding enough of the right stuff as it is people not training Medium about what they want to read.

Keep in mind that the more articles on a certain topic you click to, the more apt you are to see related content. It's why many writer-readers still see loads of writing articles.

Here, like many other platforms, you tend to curate what you see/read. Hence, the more stories I read on psychology, the more that get fed to me.

Readers need to take steps to tailor their home page. Start with topics. Follow key publications and writers. Note that following hundreds of pubs and writers is going to clutter things up.

My feeds are pretty relevant to my interests. But I've also taken the time to select the right topics and I don't follow folks just to "throw them a bone." It's okay to follow only the writers and pubs in which you're interested.

I'd rather see Medium put more effort into search. That's where readers - and writers - will truly benefit: discovery.
