What many developers — and gamers — fail to realize is Apple built its loyal userbase on the notion iOS users wouldn’t have to be so concerned about security and privacy. Apple’s business model follows that idea.

A percentage drop is doable without affecting loyal customers. Allowing the side load of apps, though? That would go against the entire model, and plenty of users would take issue with it. There’s a reason many opted for iOS over AndroidOS, and not having to “think” about what will happen when an app is installed is a big one.

Oh, and you gotta love how Epic baited kids into getting on the “evil Apple” train by not making it clear that they got booted off both app stores on purpose. Public trail is powerful. In this, though, they left parents to deal with the aftermath…

Apple may not be respected due to taking a standard commission, but its closed system is important to its most loyal audience.

Plus, I’d kill to get a 30% commission rate in any industry I’ve worked in. Even comic books are 45% to 55%, based on retail and distribution.
